Kampuh Welding School / 2019

Welding practice with visible feedback

Practise a weld while seeing the parameters of the movement. The simulator puts the torch, workpiece and feedback into the same trainee view.

Muhammad Faisal designed and built the simulator while at a prior employer, which held the Kampuh Welding School contract. His work covered design, development, interaction design and deployment. Simvra has permission to show the project.

Welding torch on a clamped steel plate, with live readouts for work angle, travel angle, aim divergence, speed and arc length.
Actual simulator capture. Movement readouts sit above the workpiece so the trainee can inspect feedback alongside the weld.

What was implemented

The system scores weld parameters including angle, speed, material and welder type. In the captured build, live readouts show work angle, travel angle, aim divergence, speed and arc length above the workpiece.

The image shows the delivered application and its feedback interface. No measured learning improvement or certification result is claimed for this case.

Make the skill visible

For a similar training module, we would agree the movement to practise, the feedback needed and how your subject-matter expert will check it.
